The governance system set up by the European Commission in the proposal for a regulation on artificial intelligence aims to enhance the cooperation between Member States and a new European body – the European Artificial Intelligence Board. The proposal foresees several entities and authorities, both at national and European level, with functions not always well defined and overlapping with those of other already existing bodies: this could undermine the achievement of the objectives of the regulation on AI. Indeed, the first comments released after the publication of the proposal go in the direction of suggesting a clarification and a better allocation of the competences among the entities and authorities involved in the process of evaluating the systems based on AI. At a national level, the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali introduced a new department focused on AI in order to keep up with the increasing importance the artificial intelligence is gaining nowadays and the interconnection with the privacy protection matter.

Abstract
At a national level, the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali introduced a new department focused on AI in order to keep up with the increasing importance the artificial intelligence is gaining nowadays and the interconnection with the privacy protection matter.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
