This paper matches education for adults with Arabic for specific purposes. In the first part, it deals with some of the special needs of adult learners, poses methodological issues related to the target audience and it is anticipated what the most appropriate teaching methods and techniques in a humanistic-affective approach are expected to be. In the second part, given a hypothetical need of professional retraining, Arabic and business Arabic are analysed by focusing on some teaching questions that are concerned. The issue of appropriate teaching materials is challenging. The present paper proposes a brief case study by suggesting a learning unit devised in the light of the methodological reflections stated in the introductory paragraphs.
