The article proposes a philological investigation on the genesis of three vernacular versions of the Fet des Romains known respectively as «versione ampia (A)», «versione intermedia (I)» and «versione breve (B)». Starting with an overall analysis of the italian tradition of the Fet des Romains, the contribution proposes a comparison among the text of each of the vernacular versions examined, in the light of the French manuscript tradition. The paper establishes that the «versione ampia (A)», «versione intermedia (I)» and «versione breve (B)», contrary to previous studies, represent autonomous and independent translations of the French model.
