The third section of the guidebook of the virtual excurion of the 2021 SPSS meeting includes the main activities performed by the research group in the forests of the Lanzo alluvial fan, including La Mandria Park (Torino). The main research topics are the characterization of paleosols developed across many glacial-interglacial cycles from glacio-fluvial and loess materials, the origin of the different loess layers, the physicla and geotechnical properties of fragipan horizons, the humus forms and nutrient biogeocycling, under autochtonous and invasive tree species.

Abstract
