The publication of the new Common European Framework of Reference for Lan- guages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment. Companion Volume with New Descriptors (2018), which along with updated descriptors, now also contains an in-depth analysis of mediation, offers a timely opportunity for evaluation of how compat- ible the Russian language certification systems are with the Common Framework of Reference, in view of the ever-increasing integration of the European system into university curricula of the Russian language. After a brief look at the two certification systems of the Russian language and their relationship with the Common Framework of Reference, I will highlight the future prospects that medi- ation, understood as a set of activities and the acquisition of skills, opens up to the university teaching of the Russian language.

Abstract

The publication of the new Common European Framework of Reference for Lan- guages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment.
