Abstract

A group of scholars coming from different Souths and post-colonial worlds, both within and outside Europe, discuss some of the main topics addressed by Boaventura de Sousa Santos in one of his latest books The End of Cognitive Empire - the Coming of Age of Epistemologies of South (2018). In particular, they critically address and question some of the issues dealt with in the book, such as, inter alia, the challenge of defining a possible "cognitive decolonization" in the production of social sciences, the various dimensions associated with epistemological violence that actually produces –in the South as well in the Global North - growing marginalization and the analytical lines centred around the category of “post-abyssality”.
