The article, after pointing out that, both in the pre and post Covid-19 period, the gender gap in labour force participation mainly affects working mothers in the private sector, highlights the importance of distinguishing between instruments aimed at supporting parenthood in general and those specifically aimed at sharing family responsibilities between the genders. In particular, the author dwells on the main institute belonging to this second type, id est the paternity leave, noting that the on-going renewal project (the so-called Family Act), is still too little incisive to make this institute able to counteract the massive gender gap that, also because of the pandemic, is griping the Italian labour market.

Abstract
The article, after pointing out that, both in the pre and post Covid-19 period, the gender gap in labour force participation mainly affects working mothers in the private sector, highlights the importance of distinguishing between instruments aimed at supporting parenthood in general and those specifically aimed at sharing family responsibilities between the genders. In particular, the author dwells on the main institute belonging to this second type, id est the paternity leave, noting that the on-going renewal project (the so-called Family Act), is still too little incisive to make this institute able to counteract the massive gender gap that, also because of the pandemic, is griping the Italian labour market.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
