The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemics has raised the problem of assessing its impact on ongoing contracts. The present article analyses this issue in the perspective of the conflict-of-laws rules contained in EU Regulation 593/2008 (Rome I). It examines the interplay between the law governing the contract, the law of the place of performance and overriding mandatory provisions. The analysis is conducted through the study of five cases relating to construction, supply, hotel management and accommodation contracts.

Abstract
