Madri e patrie nel romanzo contemporaneo sulla migrazione. Scrittrici italiane e argentine

Over the last thirty years, women writers have made a specific contribution to Italian and Argentinian literature narrating migration flows to the River Plate region in their novels with a focus on female migrants’ stories. This article aims to explore the interplay between nation and gender as exemplified by the representation of the concept of maternity and new forms of filiation in these novels. The hypothesis is that these two features underpin the construction of a renewed community in both Italian and Argentinian migration novels.

All’interno della serie di romanzi che la letteratura italianae argentina ha dedicato al tema dell’emigrazione verso laregione rioplatense, si è definito, negli ultimi tre decenni, uno specifico contributo femminile, con scritture di donne sulle donne, in questo caso migranti. In questo lavoro, intendo pertanto incentrarmi sul rapporto fra genere e nazione così comeviene intessuto da questa letteratura, prendendo in considerazione i concetti di maternità e di nuove filiazioni come assi diuna rinnovata costruzione comunitaria allestita dal romanzo dell’emigrazione tanto in Italia quanto in Argentina.
