The paper investigates the role Karl Wolfskehl played in the early stages of the "Hölderlin-Rezeption" and, specifically, in the transition from variuos forms of rediscovery in late 19th-century Berlin to the Munich of the 'George Circle.' The great German-Jewish intellectual and writer acted as a veritable secret driving force behind the rebirth of interest in Hölderlin: a true "Ausstrahlungsphänomen" (as Gottfried Benn first described George, then more famously Nietzsche) - the paper highlights this role on te basis of documents hitherto ignored by scholars or not linked to this intellectual constellation.

Abstract
The paper investigates the role Karl Wolfskehl played in the early stages of the "Hölderlin-Rezeption" and, specifically, in the transition from variuos forms of rediscovery in late 19th-century Berlin to the Munich of the 'George Circle.' The great German-Jewish intellectual and writer acted as a veritable secret driving force behind the rebirth of interest in Hölderlin: a true "Ausstrahlungsphänomen" (as Gottfried Benn first described George, then more famously Nietzsche) - the paper highlights this role on te basis of documents hitherto ignored by scholars or not linked to this intellectual constellation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
