In Nep. Paus. 5.5 the relative clause quo erat mortuus, expunged as a gloss by A. Weidner and A.-M. Guillemin, is, on the contrary, a genuine text, as proved not only on the basis of Nepos’ stylistic features, but also through a comparison with Thuc. 1.134.4, here translated by the biographer. In the same way, but from a reversed point of view, Nepos’ Latin translation of Thucydides’ text could help to save the subordinate οὗπερ τοὺς κακούργους, attested in manuscripts but expunged by H.S. Jones.

Abstract
In Nep.
