The purpose of this work is to describe the state of the art of the orthodontic diagnosis. The restoration of correct anatomical and functional relationships, through orthodontic therapy, allows to reach a harmonious growth pattern in the young patient and the correct development of stomatognathic multifunctions in the adult patient. Among instrumental investigations, alongside classic examinations such as rhinomanometry, polysomnography, electrokinesiography and postural examinations, the increasing demand in the clinical field has allowed the evolution of 3D radiographic protocols that provide not only the use of minor Field Of View (FOV), but also of further reduced FOV.
