The treatment of complex fractures of the tibial plateau with the Ilizarov circular external fixator is an excellent method for the management of these injuries, particularly when extensive soft tissue, bone defect, and comminution are present. The application of thin wires allows the surgeon to maintain the fragments in a reduced and stable state. The procedures are performed even in the presence of major potential contraindications for conventional open reduction and internal fixation.

Abstract
The treatment of complex fractures of the tibial plateau with the Ilizarov circular external fixator is an excellent method for the management of these injuries, particularly when extensive soft tissue, bone defect, and comminution are present. The application of thin wires allows the surgeon to maintain the fragments in a reduced and stable state. The procedures are performed even in the presence of major potential contraindications for conventional open reduction and internal fixation.Pubblicazioni consigliate
