This article advances a new approach to make sense of an old crux in the text of Aristophanes’ Acharnians (l. 709). Not only is the proposed solution compatible with the paleographical data; what is more, it squares well with Aristophanes’ style and the context of the passage, with a powerful reference to a famous Homeric subtext. This results in a fresh reading of an important juncture of the play (ll. 702-712).

Abstract
This article advances a new approach to make sense of an old crux in the text of Aristophanes’ Acharnians (l. 709). Not only is the proposed solution compatible with the paleographical data; what is more, it squares well with Aristophanes’ style and the context of the passage, with a powerful reference to a famous Homeric subtext. This results in a fresh reading of an important juncture of the play (ll. 702-712).File in questo prodotto:
