After an introduction to the new features of programmable components, the paper discusses the application of such devices to power electronics. The role of these components in the design of modulator is introduced considering both a simple hardware solution and a mixed hardware and software solution. A design methodology is presented and a detailed description of a validation process based on High Level Petri Nets is given. Some application examples complete the discussion.

Abstract

After an introduction to the new features of programmable components, the paper discusses the application of such devices to power electronics. The role of these components in the design of modulator is introduced considering both a simple hardware solution and a mixed hardware and software solution. A design methodology is presented and a detailed description of a validation process based on High Level Petri Nets is given. Some application examples complete the discussion.
