Abstract
Politicians face to face: face activities in election debate Linguistic politeness is a collection of verbal strategies of protection and apprasail of faces of the rest, that regulates interpesonal relation and comunication (Brown and Levinson 1987). Otherwise, there some genres that made an attempt on addressee face and they look only for disagreement; in this way impoliteness turns into the objective of conversation (Blas Arroyo, 2001). Furthermore, this concept of face is not universal, but it changes in accordante with sociocultural context and it upgrates in accordante with the roles that speakers adopt in the interaction (Bravo, 2003). In election dabate, for example, the opponents want to ruin mutually to reinforce their face. All this occurs in television and so the attack to te opponent turns in a mediatic show. In this paper, we study the two face to face debite between Zapatero and Rajoy, in the context of Spanish general elections. We analyze face activitiesn used in the confrontation to evaluate if candidates prefer to discredit the opponent or to empazyse their political programs.Pubblicazioni consigliate
