Una prospettiva veneziana per il ‘Tristano Corsiniano’

The essay reconstructs the status quaestionis of the studies on the vulgarization of the Roman de Tristan en prose, better known as Tristano Corsiniano (Rome, Biblioteca Corsiniana, ms. 55 k 5), a rather ignored text by the Italian arthurian audience, variously registered in the Venetian area (Padua, Vicenza, Verona, Venetian ground) by the previous studies. Analysing the codicological, iconographical and linguistic data, the study comes to the formulation of the hypothesis of a genesis of the manuscript in the Venetian area in the last quarter of the thirteenth century, through the mediation of a lost Veronese specimen. Moreover, the article presents a deep analysis of the decoration attached to the text, by comparing it with the one obtained in various manuscripts of the same age of the same indicated area in order to underline the presence of common traits to a kind of Venetian atelier, similar for the illustrative typology and for the pictorial praxis testified by the corsinian manuscript.

Il saggio ricostruisce lo status quaestionis degli studi sul volgarizzamento del Roman de Tristan en prose noto come Tristano Corsiniano (Roma, Biblioteca Corsiniana, ms. 55 k 5 ), testo alquanto trascurato del panorama arturiano italiano, variamente ascritto all’area veneta (Padova, Vicenza, Verona, terraferma veneta) dagli studi precedenti. Analizzando i dati codicologici, iconografici e linguistici, lo studio giunge a formulare l’ipotesi di una genesi del manoscritto in area veneziana nell’ultimo quarto del Trecento, attraverso una mediazione di un modello veronese perduto. L’articolo presenta poi un’approfondita analisi della decorazione che accompagna il testo, ponendola a confronto con quella contenuta in vari manoscritti coevi dell’area indicata, al fine di evidenziare la presenza di tratti comuni ad una sorta di atelier veneziano, simile nella tipologia illustrativa e nella prassi pittorica testimoniata dal manoscritto corsiniano.
