The structure of the Italian landscape is frequently dominated by human presence with residual natural and semi-natural areas dispersed and fragmented. In this landscape it is difficult to preserve and increase ecological network. At the same time the greenways movement is growing all over Europe: system of routes dedicated to non-motorized traffic are useful to connect people with landscape resources and centres of life. The objective of the study is to identify a means of combining the functions performed by greenways and ecological networks in a single structure: the green infrastructure.
