The purpose of this article is to examine the contribution of “Società e storia” to the renewal of the studies on the revolutionary and napoleonic age. This review linghlights the close attention paied by Società e storia to this important transition period and to the changes in the themes and methodological approches that have been part of the journal during its 40 years of life.
