Abstract

The paper focuses on Tim Crouch's "An Oak Tree" as a particularly relevant example of the way Crouch re-shapes the relationship between text and performance in terms of transformation rather than transposition, and the role of the audience, starting from some premises he shares with the visual arts and particularly with conceptual art, even if I am aware that it would be important to examine in more detail his theatrical roots and his place in the post-Brechtian tradition.
