Abstract
There are few in-depth studies on race walk concerning the physiological profile, characterizing this endurance discipline, especially, there are no references in the scientific literature about the profile of effort intensity, which walkers bear during training and competitions. Today many tools can be useful to help coaches and athletes in determining this value. The present work has the aim of listing and explaining briefly these instruments, illustrating in which way they can be used during the training process. After there is a description of an attempt, which was made to define a method for the determination of the intensity of male and female walkers' intensity in 5-km and 3-km indoor race respectively during the Italian National Championship, which took place in Turin in February 2009. The spin-off of this application will represent a further possibility of evaluating and monitoring the different intensities applied in training.Pubblicazioni consigliate
