The New City Library of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, has been built in 2009 following a new Public library concept that meets population needs and rethinks the library as a “social space”, opened to the whole community without any physical and psychological obstacle that can keep people from entering and using its services; it is completely self-service and offers its main self-access services Twentyfour Seven (24/7), even during closing times. The library meets the Idea Store model developed for the Tower Hamlets Council libraries in London, a new way to intend the Public library purposes, services and relationships with the whole community.
