From the British to the Italian system. Examination of the decisions in the two Supreme Courts sheds light on the trend towards a more restrictive approach to alimony in European jurisdictions. As in Italy, there are hopes for legislative intervention in Britain , too, and the authors point out that in July 2017, Ruth Deech brought forth a draft law on divorce (Financial provisions) [HL] 2017-2019. This law, under examination at the time of writing, suggests a complete overhaul of the British law upon which the definition of financial provisions in the event of divorce is based: Section 25 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 (MCA 1973).
