Hematology, biochemical panel and venous hemogasanalisys (GEM Premier 3000® ,IL) was performed in 64 cats affected with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Acid-base (simple and mixed) and electrolytic disorders were assessed; their distribution in IRIS stages was valuated. One way ANOVA and bivariate fit were performed to assess a significative relation between data. Cats examined were free of acid-base disorders in only 28% in stage II, 22% in stage III and 5% in stage IV. Metabolic acidosis was the most frequent disorder as simple or mixed. Elevated amount of mixed disorders was found. The detection of respiratory acidosis suggests an understimation of cardiopulmonary diseases in aged cats while anxiety and stress could be advocated to explain the incidence of respiratory alkalosis
