This chapter investigates two comic art versions of Zacharias Topelius' historical novel Fältskärns berättelser: Bo Vilson's comic strip feuilleton from the early 1940s and Classics Illustrated's three magazines from the 1960s, drawn by Bo Vilson and Göte Göransson. The intention is to shine a light on the revitalization of a 19th century classic by analyzing the new cultural context of which the adaptations came to be part in the 20th century as well as the medium specificity of comics and what it does for the telling of an old tale.
