Abstract
In two young dogs an increase of water content in faeces alternated with a mucohemorrhagic diarrhoea was observed. Appetite was conserved and no A qualitative and quantitative parasitological examination revealed the No pathogenic aerobic or anaerobic bacteria were isolated in selective and no-selective growth media. The bacteriological examination for intestinal spirochaetes conducted on selective medium, revealed the presence of Brachyspira pilosicoli in each faecal sample. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and restriction analysis (RFPL-PCR) were used to identify the isolates at the species level. The pharmacological contrary, thanks to the treatment with lincomycin, effective drug against intestinal spirochaetes, symptoms ended.Pubblicazioni consigliate
