The early psychological trauma has traditionally been associated to psychopathological diseases even though it has been demonstrated how its role is a risk factor for diseases that are commonly named as “organic”. This paper analyzes the role of early traumatic events and the development of cardiovascular diseases in adulthood through a narrative review of recent scientific literature on the subject. The analyzed contributions show a significant role of early traumatic events in preparing the adult to the occurrence of cardiovascular events. The possible mechanisms outline potential areas of intervention that open to the fundamental role of clinical psychology in terms of therapeutic and preventive interventions to be realized in the area of cardiovascular problems.

Abstract
The early psychological trauma has traditionally been associated to psychopathological diseases even though it has been demonstrated how its role is a risk factor for diseases that are commonly named as “organic”. This paper analyzes the role of early traumatic events and the development of cardiovascular diseases in adulthood through a narrative review of recent scientific literature on the subject. The analyzed contributions show a significant role of early traumatic events in preparing the adult to the occurrence of cardiovascular events. The possible mechanisms outline potential areas of intervention that open to the fundamental role of clinical psychology in terms of therapeutic and preventive interventions to be realized in the area of cardiovascular problems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
