The aim of this contribution is to provide a methodological approach towards the analysis of the translingual practices of the Latin American population in Europe from a glottopolitical perspective, that is, through the exploration of the ideological relations that are engendered from the encounter between new sociolinguistic phenomena and socio-political categories. Our focus is oriented to Latino communities that have settled in Switzerland and Italy in recent decades. This choice is not only motivated by the fact that they are the Hispanic communities studied by the authors, but also by the conviction that the study of two Latin American communities belonging to quite different European spaces can shed light on some sociolinguistic characteristics of transnational Latin American migration in the 21st century in Europe. Our methodological approach towards the study of Hispanic transnational linguistic practices attempts to combine linguistic anthropology tools with an approach based on the notion of perception that has been processed by cognitive sociolinguistics. It is a model that combines the semi-structured interview with data obtained from perceptual stimuli. In other words, the purpose of this paper is to develop a methodology grounded on the perception of the speakers in order to collect and analyze at the micro-linguistic level different voices in relation to their linguistic practices and those of others in order to achieve at the macro level a mosaic of the categories that determine the ideologies, beliefs, as well as the linguistic and identity practices of Hispanic transnational speakers.

Abstract
In other words, the purpose of this paper is to develop a methodology grounded on the perception of the speakers in order to collect and analyze at the micro-linguistic level different voices in relation to their linguistic practices and those of others in order to achieve at the macro level a mosaic of the categories that determine the ideologies, beliefs, as well as the linguistic and identity practices of Hispanic transnational speakers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
