In this essay, after remarking the passages related to food and the literary sources that connect Dickens, Woolf, Proust, Tomasi di Lampedusa, the investigation focuses on the many acts of eating interspersed in "The Leopard". Humans, beasts of pray, insects, moths, spiders feed on each other. Humans are often compared to animals. The author connects such instances with the presence of a Darwinian view shaping the novel -- a view that comprehends historical events and seals society within a destiny of degeneration.

Abstract
In this essay, after remarking the passages related to food and the literary sources that connect Dickens, Woolf, Proust, Tomasi di Lampedusa, the investigation focuses on the many acts of eating interspersed in "The Leopard". Humans, beasts of pray, insects, moths, spiders feed on each other. Humans are often compared to animals. The author connects such instances with the presence of a Darwinian view shaping the novel -- a view that comprehends historical events and seals society within a destiny of degeneration.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
