Planen, fahren, travel...: Die Sprache der Reisenden in Foren über Zugreisen

The present paper analyses language used in forums about journeys by train, in particular focusing on their thematic and linguistic-functional characteristics. The choice of this type of forum is due to the fact that travelers are more and more interested in travelling by train because of various factors such as economy, environmental protection and the desire for a comfortable means of transport. The paper examines 100 German and 100 English postings, offering a contrastive analysis. The main questions of the investigation are as follows: 1) How are German and English postings structured according to their topics? 2) What kind of relationship exists between the language used and linguistic functions of the postings?

Il contributo analizza il linguaggio utilizzato nei forum dedicati ai viaggi in treno, concentrandosi in particolare sulle loro caratteristiche tematiche e linguistico-funzionali. La scelta di questo tipo di forum è motivata dal crescente interesse dei viaggiatori nel scegliere un viaggio in treno supportato da fattori quali l'economicità, la tutela ambientale e il desiderio di un mezzo di trasporto confortevole. L'articolo esamina in ottica contrastiva 100 post in tedesco e 100 post in inglese tratti da un unico forum. Le domande principali dell'indagine sono: 1) Come sono strutturati tematicamente i post tedeschi e inglesi? 2) Quale tipo di relazione esiste tra la lingua usata e le funzioni linguistiche dei post?
