Therapy should minimize signs and symptoms that can compromise the quality of life (anorexia, vomit, anemia) or worsen the outcome (hypertension and proteinuria). Moreover, potential concurrent diseases such as urinary tract infections or endocrinopathies must be ruled out and controlled. The owner compliance and the use of accurate monitoring strategies can play a very important role in the management of these patients.
