The binder of an Ostrogothic buckle with cloisonné decoration from Tortona (Italy) as analysed through micro-FTIR, XRD, GC-MS and DI-EI-MS. The inorganic part of the binder appeared to be formed by quartz, with minor amounts of feldspar, muscovite, calcite, hematite and maghemite. The organic part was composed by beeswax and egge white.
