The research project aims at examining sample-areas in Southern Italy, particularly in Campania and Sicily, in order to investigate wine production in the period between 7th and 1st centuries B.C.: through surveying and DNA/palaeobotanical techniques, the project intends to locate wine processing plants along with other manufacturing units (especially involving ceramics) in relation to the road system; focus on their specific building features and the analysis of material scatters would integrate the picture, attempting to reconstruct the area productive and commercial setting. Academic publications and programs of cultural resource development constitute the project ultimate purposes.
