The article concerns the "Discorso primo" opening Ugo Foscolo's edition of "La Chioma di Berenice" (1803), and presenting a survey of "Editors, interpreters and translators" who since the end of the XVth century dealt with the Catullan poem. The particular importance as source of Foscolo's work of the "Callimachi elegiarum fragmenta" (published 1799) by the great Dutch classical scholar L.C. Valckenaer.
