Imparare con le figure. Tavole didattiche tra Otto e Novecento : testo e immagine nel libro didattico-educativo

The article aims at describing two different kinds of educational tools: posters and illustrated books produced as didactic materials for object lessons. They were issued in the second half of the 19th century by publishing houses such as Paravia, A. Vallardi, Ulrico Hoepli. The analysis of some exemplars, together with the research on subsidiary handbooks for teachers, allows to retrace forms and use of such didactic tools. Furthermore, some hypotheses are put forward regarding the paths followed by the graphic component of such publications, frequently designed abroad and later combined with texts by Italian educators.

L’articolo presenta due tipologie di materiale didattico: tavole murali e libri illustrati realizzati nell’Italia del secondo Ottocento come strumenti per l’insegnamento oggettivo dagli editori Paravia, A. Vallardi, Ulrico Hoepli. Mediante l’esame di alcuni esemplari, così come di pubblicazioni sussidiarie, quali le guide per maestri, si ricostruiscono forme e uso di tali strumenti didattici; vengono inoltre avanzate alcune ipotesi sulle traiettorie dei materiali grafici, spesso realizzati all’estero e in un secondo tempo associati a testi scritti da educatori italiani.
