Based on the Corpus del Español (CORDE) realized by the Real Academia Española, the paper analyses the semantic field of ‘stranger’ since the dawn of Castillian, studying it from the point of view of etymology, orthography and semantics and taking into consideration the chronology (appearance and disappearance or semantic change).
