This research analyzes the degree of satisfaction achieved by puerpere during the hospitalization at Puerperio ward of L. Mangiagalli Clinic in Milan, to detecte the level of satisfaction of the women and the further suggestions for improvement from the midwives. This work was conducted through a qualitative study of phenomenological type by interviews to 21 puerpere and 7 midwives. All the new mothers were satisfied with their hospital stay and, with regard to the Resignation Report, the 28.57% of puerpere found it complete without asking any changes. The 66.6% of them made proposals on adding further information, while the 4.76% said it was indifferent. The 71.42% of midwives suggested some improvements in the Letter of Resignation in expectation of returning home to the family, the remaining 14.28% was sceptical and the 14.28% indifferent. In conclusion it’s clear the hospital stay is the appropriate place where the obstetric staff can provide information on puerpere and their families on topics such as maternal cares, neonatal cares, breastfeeding and territorial assistance. Besides it’s useful to share with puerpera the reading of the Resignation Report to create an empathetic moment of discussion and to remember the obstetric and pediatric indications.
