Andamento delle concentrazioni plasmatiche di 15-ketodiidro-PGF2alpha nel neonato asinino nelle prime tre settimane di età

The aim of this study was to evaluate the plasmatic changes of 15-ketodihydro-PGF2alpha(PG-metabolite) in neonatal donkeys from birth until the third week of life. Twelve donkey foals have been studied. Blood samples were collected at 10, 20 and 30 minutes after birth, at 3 and 72 hours and at 7, 10, 17 and 21 days of life. All the jennies showed normal gestation lenght and a normal and spontaneous delivery; all foals were judged mature and viable in agreement with the data reported for horse foals. The results regarding hormonal concentrations show very high levels of 15-ketodihydro-PGF2alpha during the first thirty minutes after birth, and a significant and rapid decrease of these values beginning from 24 hours of life (p<0.05). Prostaglandins concentrations keep low for all the rest of the study; no significant differences have been found between the first and the 21st day of life (p>0.05).
