The concept of Legai Medicine may refer to different activities in different countries. In Italy, a European country of Mediterranean tradition, Legai Medicine is a discipline which encompasses a plethora of topics and sub-disciplines: whereas for many other countries it may be represented mainly by forensic pathology and clinical| forensic medicine, in Italy it extends from bodily damage to bioethics on to insurancel medicine - with the advantages and disadvantages that such a large scenario entails. We will therefore try, with some simplification, to give a concise but thorough perspective of Legai Medicine in Italy.
