This article focuses on mediation as an integral and communicative competence in the teaching of German as a foreign language. After an introduction to the main issues we propose a concept for teaching and training in language mediation in the acquisition of German as a foreign language at Italian universities, starting from the very first steps (Al, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages/CEFR). The aim of our article is to motivate didactic as well as methodological reflection on language mediation, and to demonstrate how this can be embedded in language teaching, while at the same time supporting the language acquisition process.

Abstract
