Varietà delle forme di rappresentanza di cittadini e lavoratori : verso un'analisi internazionale e comparata

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the recent changes in the forms of representation of workers and citizens in a historical and comparative perspective. The issue of exclusion from representation has been important for a long time among social scientists both with reference to citizen’s rights and to trade union coverage of insiders and outsiders. This issue became more important in the recent years of economic crisis. In the course of time and especially since the end of the XX century the forms of representation of workers have been changing and the mixing of the issues of workers and citizens representation has become more complex. A variety of representation’s forms has emerged which recalls those of the XIX century rather than the established form of representation of the XX. If this is true, it can be useful to “look back to see (better) forward”. This article aims at contributing to new stream of literature which can be christened Varieties of Representation with an explicit reference to the well know literature on the Varieties of Capitalism.
