Resilienza urbana e rivalorizzazione del tessuto commerciale del centro storico di Piacenza

In recent urban regeneration, retail trade assumes a central role, being considered by many as an enlivening instrument in urban society, not only due to the repercussion on the economic fabric of the area, but also on account of the power to attract flows of people and its ability to foster the development of a web of relationships. This paper takes into consideration a district in the town center of Piacenza, called “Quartiere Roma”, in which a participated project is under way, aiming at the urban regeneration of the area. It analyzes the methods and results of the Porta Galera 3.0 project, highlighting the versatile role that the planners assign to retail trade in urban, economic and relational requalification of the district itself.
