This paper analyzes the results of the CampusOne project – launched and managed by the Conference of Italian Universities Rectors (CRUI) – in a particular area of its activities: the introduction of basic ICT skills ECDL certification to assess the competences of freshman students in using the most common computer tools. The paper shows the impact of CampusOne on the diffusion of ECDL inside Italian Universities, discusses the teaching methods and analyzes the criteria adopted to recognize the ECDL certification as part of the bachelor curricula offered by the Universities. Some concluding remarks and future perspectives are finally given.

Abstract
