This short essay, written in honour of friend and colleague Anna Anzi, starts from her research on Heracles's myth and its presence in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra, in order to suggest the vast range of references that exist between classical discourses of food and their implementation in the Elizabethan drama, owing to an impressive wealth of food metaphors.
