Abstract

Formaldehyde is the main indoor gaseous pollutant: the main issues are find a practicable way to remove it from indoors, as find an efficient method to test the photocatalytic materials, because another key problem about HCHO is its monitoring, mostly at low concentrations. As TiO2 photocatalysis is a promising technology for VOC’s abatement, we studied the performance of nano- and micro- commercial powders of TiO2, monitoring HCHO by the PTR-ToF-MS, whose skills were never exploited for photocatalytic tests, detecting low HCHO concentrations in real time. Micro-TiO2 has then been applied on porcelain grés tiles, tested with the same method. Results are promising and make these tiles innovative materials really usable for the improvement of the indoor air quality.
