We report on a small family with an electro-clinical picture suggestive of partial epilepsy with variable foci (PEVFC). The peculiar finding was that the proband had a multifocal epilepsy, while in the cases reported in the literature the variability was among different members. In this way, the present observation further supports the notion that PEVFC is clinically heterogeneous. The molecular study will illustrate if the epilepsy in our family is also genetically distinct.

Abstract

We report on a small family with an electro-clinical picture suggestive of partial epilepsy with variable foci (PEVFC). The peculiar finding was that the proband had a multifocal epilepsy, while in the cases reported in the literature the variability was among different members. In this way, the present observation further supports the notion that PEVFC is clinically heterogeneous. The molecular study will illustrate if the epilepsy in our family is also genetically distinct.
