The goal of this study was to identify the neuropsychological features of patients (pts) with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) associated with mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS) compared to pts with TLE without MTS. We found that pts with TLE and MTS had more severe impairments in memory performances than pts with TLE without MTS. The lateralization of the pathology caused deficits to the long term memory. The pts with and without MTS of the dominant hemisphere had impairments in the long term verbal memory, while pts with and without MTS of the non-dominant hemisphere had deficits in the long term non verbal memory.
