Hauts lieux et transformations urbaines des capitales africaines = High-level places and urban transformation of African capitals

In the globalized world, political and economic leaders are concentrated in key places of the most international capitals. Concentrating on leadership in political geography means that one focuses on the individuals exerting political and economic power, instead of on the dynamics of this power. This paper analyzes some of the most important consequences of the concentration of leaders in some limited urban spaces in the capitals of sub-Saharan Africa, specifically highlighting the construction of landmarks, the showcase of some urban spaces, and the proliferation of residential neighborhoods, services and commercial centers, specifically targeting leaders.
