The study of Linguistic Landscape (LL) is a promising research line in the field of sociolinguistics, often related to migration and globalization studies. Although the signs within the LL are exclusively written, their relationship with orality can be analyzed at different levels. In general, from a semiotic point of view, the LL is an indicator of genuine multilingualism, and points to the local use of spoken languages. At a pragmatic level, the dialogic forms which can be seen in the LL have a clear interactive function, promoting in-group communication. Finally, the signs within the LL can reflect linguistic use, and especially the hybridized forms resulting from language contact. This paper will present the results of a pilot study on the Latin American LL in Milan and will focus on some significant items, testifying to the ethnolinguistic vitality of these groups. From this point of view, LL often demarcates new spaces for language use; at the same time, it reflects an emerging Spanish-Italian bilingualism.

Abstract
From this point of view, LL often demarcates new spaces for language use; at the same time, it reflects an emerging Spanish-Italian bilingualism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
