Ramsay''s works are studied against the backdrop of some of the most controversial features of the century: the "querelle des cérémonies chinoises", the polemic against spinozism, the first reading of Berkeley as an idealist and a skeptic, the interpretation on Newtonianism. At the end of the volume, the mss. "Anecdotes del la vie" are published for the first time.
